Ali Coffey is one of Ireland’s most respected casting directors, with over two decades of experience working across film, television, and commercials. Known for her positivity, sharp eye for talent, great jokes told badly and unforgettable red hair, Ali has cast projects for leading production companies—including work for Universal Pictures, Netflix, AMC+, Starz, BBC and is currently casting several productions in Ireland. She’s also the founder of Fishpond, Ireland’s first online casting platform (think of an Irish Actors Access! ☘️).

This class is designed for 16 actors who will each perform a 2-page (drama) scene, assigned by Ali Coffey. After you submit your Self-Tape and reviewing your Actors Access profile, she will give you redirection and notes. The following week, in the Live Zoom ‘Callback’, Ali generously works with you on your revised scene, giving you final feedback and analysis.

Class Format:

Week 1: For our SELF-TAPE week, each Actors will submit a self-tape of their performance of the assigned scene by April 29. By May 6, Ali will provide her notes on your performance plus any redirects or suggestions. You will then hone your performance of the scene based on her feedback.

Week 2:  In our ZOOM AUDITION workshop of May 11, 1pm ET / 10am PT, you will now perform your scene again but this time as a simulated 'Callback’ live in front of the class, incorporating your Self Tape feedback and Ali will give you final notes. We will provide you with a reader.

Ali will wrap up with a Q&A and summerise her experience of working with overseas actors in Ireland, connecting to the Irish and British Film and TV industry and particular aspects of self-taping / Zoom auditioning for Ireland and the UK markets.

Ali is treating this as a standard audition so it may help you to pair up as each other’s readers or to go the usual route you would do when auditioning. Each actor will be assigned the same scene but which can be adapted for age/gender. This is a really useful way to enable actors to learn from each other’s performances and feedback.

Please note that an integral part of Ali’s classes is the self-tape submission and being punctual. If you are late to submit your tape or fail to turn-up for your Zoom session on time, you will NOT be allowed in & credit will NOT be issued.
